The IO BIO baby is growing. We now have 10 entries published and 24 ‘under construction’ (see below), as well as an updated website with an extended Database, Author instructions and Tools to find more data about Secretaries-General (SGs) of International Organizations (IOs). Please visit our website: www.ru.nl/fm/reinalda (then select IO BIO link).

The biographical literature on SGs, or other executive heads with different titles, is limited, giving an incomplete picture of the variety of people who have held these positions and the interactions between them. The IO BIO Project is designed to create a biographical dictionary with short biographies (between 800 and 3,600 words; the length is determined by level of importance, with three category levels). Entries will present an accurate and coherent description of the life and career of each SG. Entries provide biographical data, a balanced account of life and work, as well as references and a picture. To allow for group analyses authors are encouraged to pay attention to the social and professional connections of SGs.

We are currently looking for more experts willing to write an entry in IO BIO. When applying to write an entry, please provide your name, institutional affiliation, and contact information, and provide the arguments for why you are a good author for this entry. To express an interest, or for more information, please contact us at: iobio@fm.ru.nl.
